Learning that reaches beyond the classroom

A group of our IB learners visited Kireka Home for Children with Special Educational Needs as part of their community focused project fieldwork. The home is a special school that supports learners with intellectual disabilities.
During the visit, our students met with the school's administrators and toured its different sections. They listened, asked questions and observed closely to understand the realities on the ground and to identify where their time, skills and ideas could make a meaningful difference.
The IB's emphasis on service and action should lead to real impact and this is our belief at Kabojja International School. Projects like this help our learners move from awareness to empathy and from empathy to purposeful action that benefits the communities around us.
This experience also reflects values we live every day through our Learning Support Unit, where we are committed to understanding each learner's individual needs, celebrating their strengths and ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive. Walking alongside our neighbours at Kireka Home reminds us that inclusion is not only a school wide commitment, but a community wide responsibility.
We are proud of our students for approaching this project with curiosity, humility and care. We thank the Kireka Home administration for their warm welcome and generosity of time.
We look forward to sharing what comes next.
